The Ramsey/Nelson/Benson Veterans Service Office has recently taken part in a national program to provide a proper disposal service for US flags.
Through a partnership between the National Association of Counties (NACo), the National Flag Foundation, and the National Sheriff's Association a flag disposal box has been located at each County's courthouse.
Introduction of the flag disposal boxes will provide a great opportunity to educate the public about the proper care for the US flag.
Bring your tattered, torn, worn, ripped, or soiled flags to the Veterans Service Office at each courthouse for proper disposal.
Proper disposal of the American flag is a sign of respect. Retiring the flag is usually conducted by organizations such as the VFW or the American Legion at a ceremony for that purpose.
